What is wrong with the Indian Education System?
It’s high time for India to start investing in more progressive methods of teaching and learning. The government along with academic institutions, teachers, and parents need to work together and start implementing changes at the root level.

Basic literacy is essential but making students study the same subjects even though it will be of no relevance to them a few years later is futile at best.
We have to modify the pre-existing notion of “good subjects”. India may be the pioneers of Mathematics and Science but that is not the only thing we can do. Academic syllabus is one thing that absolutely needs a change with teachers and teaching methods getting a whole new makeover altogether. Outdated teaching methods need E-learning updates. Upskilled teachers trained in the latest teaching methods are the need of the hour. A combination of trained teachers with an agile learning methodology can literally create wonders.
Functional aspects of literacy and market knowledge are fully ignored in the Indian Education System. Students memorize the definitions but seldom know how to use them in life. The extreme value given to grades and marks has totally zoned out functional literacy providing zero basic knowledge of how the market functions and how the economy runs.
